(15,473 posts)I guess I'm just too libertarian-socialist to accept the kind of lock-step requirements they are foisting on candidates.
Why do I feel this way? History tells me. When we look at what Marxism could have been versus what it became under Lenin and later Stalin, it seems this approach by the BNC is a bit Leninist.
Of course, I'll be supporting Ocasio-Cortez and Wilder if he wins the KS primary. But...again I feel like our republic was set up to allow for vigorous debate. I mean, as liberal as I admittedly am, I actually respect and want all of us to sit down at the table and hash out the issues through vigorous debate. This way, what we come up with will be something maybe we're all not 100% thrilled with, but that we can all live with. Then we move forward. This is what the founders of this nation had in mind when they set up our three branches of government and put all the checks and balances in place. This is the republic we must recapture.
But first, we need to squash the American empire as represented by Trump and his capitalist cabal of billionaire freaks. Unrestrained capitalism and Citizens United do not make for a government of, by and for the people.
