(342 posts)... I spend a surprising amount of time rhetorically beating back progressives who are very prone to trolling comments favorable to Hillary, the Democratic Party, and the U.S. intelligence community, and comments hostile toward Russia and the Putin regime for hacking U.S. elections. These nominally enlightened and informed activists remain certain that 1.) Russian government consists of good guys, just misunderstood and for decades horribly mistreated by the U.S.; 2.) Hillary was as Trump avers "crooked" and would be worse in the White House than he is, and 3.) The DNC hacks were an inside job, this last view of course not explaining how siimlar hacks were perpetrated on a number of our European allies, who were among the first to notice the same treatment of the US election.
When I point out to these trolls that they needn't be entirely supportive of everything the Democratic Party does, nor all that Hillary said or did, nor have full faith in and zero skepticism regarding what the U.S. intelligence community says, they also should not be totally oppositional, because that stance is the very essence of what Cozy Bear and company, aided by Wikileaks and the Republican Party, want you to think. But they don't see it, or they glim it but don't want at this point to back away from it.
