The Con wanted his position of power and he got it, but he can never return to the life he had before, and neither can his family.

Assuming the Con is not in jail:
If he retains Secret Service protection, there will be an entourage following them wherever they go...never a private moment, never the opportunity to just jump into a private car and drive off, never dine alone, never spend a day shopping, never a moment of privacy. If he dismisses the SS when leaving office, it will be necessary to beef up his private security to numbers "like no one has ever seen before" (to use his phrasing), which again will destroy his privacy and cost him dearly. They'll never be safe without this level of security.

His WH "service and reputation" will follow them everywhere. They'll be hounded at every turn, every day. They'll go through life looking over their shoulders.
