2. Trump overplayed the bromance.

Putin thought that the message of friendship would go over well with trumps base, and that way he could worm his way into our affairs, but like a big anxious puppy, Trump went way over the top and now Putin is worried that he blew the whole thing. So he’s pulling back a bit.
