25. If my father were alive, he'd be cheering Trump on.

Before Trump decided to run, Dad would have thought he was crude, obtuse, and a joke.

But my father was a contrarian, an authoritarian, and a narcissist. (Birds of a feather . . . . ) My father was also taking his "marching orders" from FOX News.

Dad would have been 96 this year. He would have been greatly amused and entertained by the words and antics of Donald Trump. Especially the reaction of Democrats as Trump trolled them. Dad would have called it "genius". (Yeah, like Hitler was a genius.) He would have felt like he belonged to an elite club of Trump lovers. Not that he would have gone to rallies or identified with the Midwest or lower class of whites. OTOH, I can imagine Dad wearing a MAGA hat while watching FOX News from his Barka Lounger and having a great time.

My father would have been a proud Deplorable.

(As a matter of record, Dad was born and grew up in rural Pennsylvania. It was in his DNA.)
