is that Manafort is afraid to flip because the Russians will come after him or his family if he spills too many beans. If he's put on trial he doesn't have to testify on his own behalf so even if he's convicted at least he isn't as likely to be whacked in prison for being a rat, and his family would be safe. But if he flips to get a deal for a reduced sentence and the Russian money-laundering channels are exposed, who knows?
