59. That's exactly why they use it

If memory serves, it's an Ann Coulterism.

Conservatives decry what they consider to be the culture of political correctness - and to many, that culture is epitomized by the attacks on the "R" word. So Libtard functions as an insult to liberalism and an attack on PC culture. It's ironic, since the all-preborn-lives matter crowd goes to great lengths to lecture on why you shouldn't abort your baby with DS. (By the way - many people with DS are amazing - it's not a great sole reason to terminate a pregnancy, imho).

So riddle me this Batman. "Retarded" is a clinical term that has entered the vernacular to mean "really stupid." We've decided it's not cool to use in polite conversation. Fair enough. So why is it OK to use "Idiot" and "Moron" and "Cretin", all of which are clinical terms - two of which entered the vernacular to mean "really stupid" and one meaning "super creepy?"
