7. it's important for reporters to gather information. editorial judgment is what's lacking miserably.

reporters should certainly go and observe and record the lies and smears and denials and so on.

what they should *not* do is then simply report "white house says x". that shouldn't be the headline or the thrust of the story.

if it's a lie, then the story should be "white house lies again about x" and should focus more on things like the fact that the white house lies, how often, why they lie, the effects of the lies, the need to resist and counter the lies, etc. deep in the story, there's the *truth* about x, and only then, the lie, an explanation for how it's wrong, and in summary, a repetition and reminder of the actual truth.


when there's a serious, honest white house, simply reporting "white house says x" might be a good strategy. but the constant lying takes huge advantage of this. the media is being used and abused and donnie will continue to do so until the media figures out how to not be played for fools constantly.
