(6,749 posts)73. I spent time under one of those desks myself.
I remember thinking, "Why are we doing this? If they drop the bomb on us being under our desks will not save us." That was frightening for elementary aged children then. I cannot believe that our children today are facing terrorists with guns and bombs entering their classrooms. What horrors our children face just going to school today. Equally horrible is the fact that the people we put in power are unwilling to defend our children's lives.
