big FU is to Ronald Reagan for firing the air traffic controllers just to prove he was the big man. I took that hard, and I have no dog in that hunt except I am a working American who up until that time (ok, I was just out of college, therefore young) expected some bottom line of fair dealing from government and, yes, industry. And don't give me that illegal strike BS. They were making reasonable requests, had a demanding job on which lives absolutely depended, and were experiencing working conditions that were not conducive to their doing their best job and did not reflect the amount of training, expertise necessary to do the job, nor the amount of responsibility they had. Wherever you are, may your jet crash every day and injure no one but you!

Not to mention the fact that it led to the gutting of the labor movement, which at some point will have to be restarted, if not from scratch, at least from a much diminished position than was gained by so many.
