(14,565 posts)Politics is far too old. Likewise sports, where I have made similar arguments regarding conventional wisdom with coaching hires and front office hires.
In both venues you could subtract 10-15 years from the norm and have a superior product and results.
Hogg's examples were poor but his instincts are superior. And similarly his instincts are awesome when he is working to register young voters, while our cable hosts spend the same time frame whining about something from 2015 or 2016, while absurdly exaggerating every likely remedy.
I like Nancy Pelosi. But I remember the excitement when Bill Clinton was elected at barely 46 years old and Barack Obama at newly 47. Again similar to sports I prefer prodigies over late-blooming stiffs. That is the age range we should be prioritizing.
And David Hogg famous and relevant at 18 is someone I would listen carefully to, far beyond some late-blooming stiff naysayer.
