(33,643 posts)This is just the way the dude talks, and he's still a kid ... albeit a very bright one. And it's in the context of Congressional Term Limits, it's important to note (given he wants to run for Congress as soon as he hits 25).
Am I saying this is a 'well-advised sentiment'? No, I'm not. But is it different from the cockiness of pretty much ALL young people, thinking they know more than 'the adults'?
If you read the whole article (it's hella long, but highly illustrative), you'll discover it's DEFINITELY cherry-picking to come down on this young man over this brief statement, which is clearly not at all 'central' to his philosophies, which are surprisingly sophisticated (and VERY progressive) for a person his age.
He still has much to learn (like, AOC is never to be President like he apparently thinks) but I appreciate the vast majority of this dude's sentiments ... esp. when considering they're coming from a High Schooler.
Here is what immediate precedes the quotes from the Daily Mail article:
