In reply to the discussion: The Blue Wave Rises, Con't. Beto O'Rourke has a real shot against Ted Cruz, and this is why. [View all]This made me weep, tears of joy.
As the plaudits piled up, two stood out to me. One came from former Republican consultant Steve Schmidt, who tweeted, Take a minute to watch a political leader with conviction and integrity address a divisive issue.
The other one came from Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner, a devout Christian and unabashed social conservative.
I would have expected Warner to balk at ORourkes defense of the national-anthem protests. But Warner posted the clip and tweeted that ORourke hit the nail on the head & he did so not by dividing the 2 sides but by joining them together.

then this!
Of course, the issue is not whether you stand for the anthem yourself, but whether you respect the rights of others to refrain from standing. Cruz is smart enough to understand that distinction. But in the era of wedge politics, the wedge is his friend.

He certainly does connect with the voters - like a combination of Obama and Trudeau.

Beto looks like a Texan. It may sound trivial but he has the right look and demeanor to him
