You're placing arbitrary limits on the limitless.
No one of rational mind gets upset if a Shakespearean drama is set in the early 20th century (Love's Labors Lost, 2000) or the ghetto of New York (West Side Story). No one of sound mind gets upset when a white man plays Othello against an all black cast. And no one (except annoying fanboys) pretend sound science is applied 100% of the time to science-fiction movies.
And yet, you're railing about the immorality of a mere gender change to a fictional (let's repeat that for effect: an imaginary, made-up story) character.
Though I'm betting you'll rationalize your intolerance of a benign change as something else.
