3. Many are what are known as "Bible Literalists"

Meaning they take what the Bible says about the Origin of the earth, among other tenets, as literal truth, I.e; that the Earth and all the universe was created in six, twenty four hour periods between six and 10,000 years ago.

As mentioned above, they take the passage of John 3:3 completely literally, that you must be “born again” in order to enter the kingdom of god.

Most evangelicals in this country fail immeasurably with regard to the beatitudes (the teachings of the Sermon on the Mount) and many of the other alleged teachings of Christ, in that they tend to be in favor of the death penalty and hate immigrants, poor people and anyone that does not think like they do.

In short, they are religious assholes.
