Also, Onondaga County is pretty much the equivalent of "Urban rural". Looks like a city area, but there's a lot of fill of both Republican-voting ethnic minorities and white rural emigrants who want the city feel but without having to actually live in a city. There's a lot of areas in New York that are quite similar; take a look at the 2016 election map if you're interested. Loads of red.
