I worked with some social workers who'd previously been employed at prisons, mental institutions, and the post office. One thing they told me really astounded me.

Inmates and enrollees figures out that if you filter liquid shoe polish through a loaf of bread (in the bag) they could pierce the bottom end and get alcohol or at least something that gave them a buzz.
