(4,558 posts)Im going all out, and using their own tactics this time.
Phone banking, canvassing and donating to Beto and Lizzie Fletcher to do everything I can to help get out the vote for like minded people, but Im also:
When engaging with those who are Cons and Trump types, I play false friend and say that I just cant support Cruz and Culberson because of their attacks on Trump in 2016.. they dont deserve my support.. they need to be replaced with real conservatives.. blah blah blah. Put that bug in their fox raddled brains and hopefully depress their desire to get out and vote at all.
Ive also started engaging some of the traditional republicans who supported Cruz in the 16 primary, and still are not big fans of 45 with lines like I used to have great respect for Culberson and Cruz, but I just cant abide how theyve laid down and rolled over to support that horrible person in the White House. Can we really keep on supporting someone who let trump insult his wife, then gets in bed with this president? With this tactic, Ive already got my neighbor across the street now joining me in canvassing for Lizzie, and Beto, and he and his wife now have yard signs for both as well (both were Culberson and Cruz for president in 2016). These types will never go full Democratic Party support, but at the least this can deenergize them enough to not vote, and such as with my neighbor actually effect a flip for this particular election cycle.
No more well thought out, logical, and fact based arguments from me.. Im going all out disingenuous manipulation, and appealing to their base flaws to get what I want, and this country needs.
