Among the reasons I carry a purse (I'm a woman, despite the screen name) is that I always have a book, sometimes two in it. Two very specific times in my life I was stranded without a book to read, and that will never happen again, if I have any control over it.

I appreciate that a lot of people prefer to read electronically. That's not the point. It's the being forced to listen to someone else's idea of entertainment or news.

Heck, it's why I think open floor plan homes are a bad idea. If the TV is on, everyone must listen/watch whatever is on. The alternative, every family member alone in their own room is just as bad. What ever happened to playing board games? Discussing books or ideas or doing some kind of craft?
