Age of consent in Maryland is 16 and the older partner must be at least 4 years older for it to be a crime.

14 is the legal age if their partner is less than 4 years older, so a 17 year old can have sex with a 14 year old for example.

Only like 12 states have 18 as the age of consent and most allow for a 2-4 year age difference regardless.
