10. Grassley is being disingenuous (Shocking, I know!)

The invitation to Dr. Ford only went out yesterday. Unsurprisingly, Dr. Ford may not have had time in the last 24 hours to arrange her schedule to appear on the other side of the continent next week. Grassley got around to canceling his committee's Thursday vote only a short time ago.

Dr. Ford may also be waiting to see just how this invitation plays out: Is this a legitimate inquiry into the matter, or is she being set up for a public mauling? What are the ground rules? What are allowable questions and areas of inquiry? What assurances is Grassley giving that this doesn't devolve into a free-for-all? Given Republicans' track record, I'd be exceedingly wary of any invitation to go before any committee they control.
