(156 posts)I saw the film at the State Theater here in Traverse City. The theater on the main drag that was vacant for years (closed shortly after I saw Platoon when it first ran). He used his fame to help reopen it as a community theater run primarily by volunteers. You can see classic films on Wednesday for a quarter and it has regular showings dedicated to kids who have disabilities. I'm sure he has quietly poured loads of his own money into the place just like the max donation he gave to a woman candidate for the state house on whose campaign I help.
When a local car dealer cut off funding to planned parenthood over the recent abortion nonsense, Moore donated an amount equivalent to that lost. But he is the scum of the earth? Not so much. He walks the walk and doesn't talk about it.
And yes, the film is excellent.
