(1,013 posts)some of us that are NOW 60+ weren't sure what we paid in wasn't going to disappear. Back then it was a scare tactic, it is just for scare now. All of us paid in since we began working, its one thing to lose a few dollars, but NOT when it amounts to your entire working life.

Last evening, our small resort town held canoe races and then a concert along the lakeshore. I tend to gravitate to people who love to laugh, because laugher is the only thing that has gotten us through life. Don't like to throw my cigarette butts on the ground, and if I don't have something to put them in, they show up in the washer. So walked over to this trash can to dig out a popcan. Now there was quite the crowd of non-residents around at the time, and my friend said "No,--- don't dig in the trash for food." I replied "I have to, am on social security now." Then I realized how many people I didn't know were standing around, looked like they were getting ready to hand me change. Later someone told me I should have worked it...
