9. Lots of people don't expect to pay consequences for their actions

John Edwards and Bill Clinton probably never expected their affairs to blow up in their faces for example. Or all those studies that found kids have a hard time not taking the instant dessert rather than waiting 15 and getting double.

People suck at thinking long term whether the consequences are small or large, legal or civil or personal. At the moment I'm dealing with a shoulder issue if I spent 5 minutes a day dealing with 5 months ago would be resolved.
