In the 10 years I have participated here, I have seen very little straw-man argumentation here. Sure, every once in awhile, someone erects a straw man but it is quickly called out by the eagle-eyed and high intelligence DU community, often within minutes of the straw man being posted.
Your real beef with straw man argumentation is with places like Yahoo and Facebook where Democrats and Liberals are routinely red-baited and their characters impugned by folks who are only a step or two above Neanderthal. The truth is that Ryan in the past has called for the privatization of Social Security but his plan was so odious that even the Bush Junta ran from it in horror. I honestly don't know (and care even less) what that brown-nosing little fascist is proposing these days.
