When you and I were younger it was very rare to see a female doctor, female lawyer or female judge or Senator/Representative/Governor. Now women have more college degrees than men, law and medical school classes are majority women, public universities have female Presidents and more tenured professors, etc. etc. Women are not stigmatized for not marrying or divorce. We had to fight tooth and nail to get to this point, so we need to keep fighting in any way we can and demanding equality.
There are days I feel the same way - I'm too old for this shit. I do find an incredible amount of young women who have no idea of what our generation had to do and lived with when we were younger. I have had young people work for me for the past ten years and I would tell the young women my story and stories about what it used to be like and some of them were shocked. Most didn't think it would ever be a problem for them, so no worries. It could get discouraging.
Persist and fight like never before. And like those women in the elevator with flaky Flake??? Make sure they hear your voices and what you have to say.
