Swift gets points from me for defying all Nashville standards by writing her own songs. She is an accomplished songwriter. As a performer she is all Circus and no substance. She also scores for being great to her crew. She is a nice kid and her dad is a great guy.

Then there's Bieber, a you tube sensation not much better than a shower singer, just in the right place at the right time. The amount of money spent on this one kids dead end career could have been spent on hundreds of real bands who are out there every day playing live, paying their dues, honing their skills.



If you think Swift and Bieber are examples of good musicians then I feel bad for you. They are examples of Corporate music. Designed for the masses by the masses to make as much money as possible.

Hell while I am on my "snobby self-righteous" rant lets go after American Idol as well. Totally ruined the fucking music industry. Took nothing but a bunch of shower singers, told them what to sing, how to sing, how to act, how to stand, how to dress, how to interact with the audience. Yeah thats just what we need, art created by a fucking checklist.
