Sharice Davis will not be the first Native American member of congress. She would be the first Native American woman member of congress.

She is preceded by five men in the Senate with documented tribal ancestry or affiliation, and 16 men in the House, including currently serving members Tom Cole and Markwayne Mullin, both of whom are Republicans from Oklahoma.
