And honest to Gosh, I'd walked into the kitchen to get my Hummus when Ari asked Markey flat out if Kavanaugh was lying (About the Renate) thing, and returned and he'd STILL not been able to say plainly that Kavanaugh was lying. I was in my kitchen for about 3-4 minutes.
Markey's a good guy, but he's older (72), and it takes some older folks time to get their thoughts straight so that they can express themselves verbally. And sometimes, it takes time to explain things, but Ari asked him flat out of Kavanaugh was lying and it took Markey a LONG time to say yes. thuglicans can talk fast, gish gallop and it doesn't take most of them long to get their points across for sound bites/ads. Look at motor mouth Marsha Blackburn. Chick has a deadly motor mouth and won't shut up for shit. She and other thuglicans like her have been and are extremely effective in getting their messages across quickly & effectively. So yeah, I feel your angst
