I believe the Repubs do not have the votes to confirm Kavenaugh. Considering Graham's comments that Trump should renominate Kavenaugh if they lose the Senate vote and take it to the people and Trump's attacks on the victims tonight at his rally, it is my conclusion that they will try to use the failure to confirm Kavanaugh as the October Surprise. Then they will announce that the midterm elections are a referendum on getting Kavanaugh (and conservative judges) appointed in order to electrify their base, particularly males, who Trump also played to today by saying it was a dangerous time to be a man. I think they believe it may be a way to save the Senate for them since there are so many Democrats running in Trump states.
That's fine with me because there are more of us than there are of them. Normally I would worry that our majority will not vote, but not this time.
