I'm a woman, and her accusation does not seem absurd to me. People don't normally touch others around their waist. A squeeze there is felt very strongly because the area is ticklish. Men who squeeze (not just touch but squeeze) women in the waist know exactly what they're doing.

I explained what happened to me. I explained that when a man touched me on the waist from behind when I wasn't expecting it, I felt violated and bullied. It was a small violation, definitely not illegal, but it was a violation -- the kind of violation women are expected to tolerate with an indulgent smile. That does not make it acceptable behavior.

I used to be a great fan of Al Franken. I was as disappointed in him as I was in Weiner and in Spitzer. Just because someone is a Democrat doesn't mean they can do no wrong. We need good people as Democrats, people who respect men and women. We should stand up against bullies and sexual abusers, regardless of their political affiliation.
