(4,959 posts)C'mon, really? Where are things? Environmental destruction rampant with no end in sight thanks to capitalism, wealth disparity and exploitation worse then almost any other time in history throughout the globe, more young, poor and especially black people in prison than ever before for non-violent crimes (I could go on and on and on)? This so-called 'seismic shift in consciousness' hasn't done shit to change conditions for the *vast majority* of the people on earth. A few laws may have been changed back then, and at the time they seemed monumental, but really, conditions have not changed and the concentration of wealth and power globally is measurably much worse.
I understand this is clearly an emotional thing for you but there's no need for hyperbole like this. It isn't helping your case.
And for the record, the song Imagine was once a very deep and poignant thing for me on a personal level too. I'm a little more old-school-Rolling-Stones-shit-kicking-attitude lately, but I am honestly not trying to be insensitive. You are talking about this in General Discussion of a political forum, not a Beatles/Lennon fan club site.
Just saying.
