The worst thing that's likely to happen to him is that he doesn't get to be a Supreme Court justice. Lots of people - most of them, in fact - don't get to be Supreme Court justices. I have no doubt the experience has been embarrassing for him but he'll live and he'll probably keep his seat on the D.C. Circuit (I'd be surprised if there were any serious effort to remove him despite his testimony before the SJC). And "the most qualified nominee ever"? Where did they get that nonsense? He's never even tried a case; he spent most of his pre-judicial career as a GOP operative in the Bush administration, working with the likes of Karl Rove and John "Torture Memo" Yoo.
