(37,748 posts)He's doing good. Far better than anyone would have given credit for ten months ago. Part of the reason for his better-than-the-average-dem-in-TX is that he's NOT talking down to conservative voters. At all.
Case in point-- his advertising campaign says absolutely nothing negative about conservatives, his opponent, or the conservative movement-- and despite the DCCC ads running here which are negative, they are absent his endorsement.
In fact, his messaging mechanism is to speak to TX as a whole rather than dividing us into numerous constituencies and demographics, and then tailoring a message to each.
Bringing anyone (anyone) in from outside TX could easily upset this balance he has. Bringing in Obama or Clinton could easily, at this point, cost him far more votes than they would add.
I can't address the other states and other candidates, but in O'Rourke's case, I think he's doing as good as he can with or without more help.
