(151,410 posts)in a parking lot is going to get a reaction. Saying "It's people like you" is very likely to trigger the response that was heard.
Bottom line is that people of all races, ages, and genders DO wait for parking spaces when they see someone about to leave a space. That happens constantly, which is why I stay away from the store end of parking lots. I park farther out, to avoid being delayed by that sort of thing and by people backing out.
If you yell at a black person or honk at a black person and you're white, some of the people you yell or honk at are going to think their race is involved, especially of you say "people like you."
The whole situation was easily avoided. Our OP got frustrated and honked and yelled. That sort of thing never does any good in such situations, which are best just avoided.
As someone else pointed out in this thread, typing that long OP no doubt took longer than the wait in the parking lot row. It's just not that big a deal. Losing your cool over commonplace annoyances makes no sense at all.
