around town, and they just disappeared without any hysteria. (Except maybe laughter)
Greene (for whom, btw, Ft Greene in Brooklyn is named) was thrown out of his Quaker meeting for supporting the Revolution, but it turned out not such a bad thing he supported it. He proved to be one of Washington's ablest generals and was so valuable to freeing the South from British rule that they gave him a plantation to retire on. More than one, actually, and he sold a lot of land to help pay for supplies in the war.
Great guy, eh?
Too bad he owned slaves to run his retirement plantation. Quakers, of course, disowned him. Fighting in the war was bad enough, but slaves?
Googly eyes? Why not?
