If theres one thing Ive learned about politicians, all of them crave power and most will climb over their own mothers to advance their own political ambitions, irrespective of party. My bet is that there will be other contenders lining up to be Speaker. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2018/10/18/one-third-non-incumbent-house-democratic-candidates-dont-support-nancy-pelosi/?utm_term=.28a5e207c6e5
As a practical matter, it wont matter who the speaker is so long as the Dems have the majority. The investigations will commence either way.
Second, you assume that once the House impeaches, McConnell and the Republicans in the Senate will try Trump. I dont see this as happening, and while the Constitution is unclear as to the Senates obligation to conduct trials when the House impeaches, historical precedent indicates that it simply can decline to take up the matter. It literally would take a smoking gun and really, really awful optics before McConnell commits to a trial or compels Trump to resign (like Watergate, where SCOTUS ordered the tapes disclosed and the Senate then buckled and got Nixon to resign so a trial would be unnecessary).
Maybe well get lucky and McConnell will be named as a conspirator too.
