I am still friends with several people from HS although we mostly only communicate on FB. Nearly all of them are still conservative christians but I am heartened to see that a few of them are openly supporting Beto (and catching a lot of heat from most of the rest of the school and friends). They know I'm a liberal atheist yet a lot of them remain friends.

One of my friends is a teacher now and a lot of his students are Dreamers and he just said he could not come back to school after election day and look them in the eye if he had voted for the guy that wants to send them all back to Mexico. He was immediately ganged up on with lots of "But he supports baby murderers! They need to go back and come in legally!" and lots of other horse shit. He told those people that he has been voting for conservative republicans all his life and none of them have done one thing to stop abortion. At least if he votes for Beto he knows he did what he could to help these students he loves with all his heart.

to me, that is a remarkable turn-around.
