The fact that elections are state and county run events is one of the reasons we still have a more-or-less free country.
The Trump administration running elections? I don't think so.
Most states operate their elections very fairly. A very few, like Georgia, are suspect. You should see how Minnesota does it. It's a model.

50 separate elections is harder to manipulate or hack than 1 single election.
