(249 posts)have rarely been spoken. IMHO, our priority should be upon reestablishment of the anchors of our democracy, which include: oversight and checks and balances; election integrity (combat voter suppression, gerrymandering and dark money/Citizens United) and, to the OPs main point, resestablishment of a FAIR PRESS. While Trumps excesses have awakened some slumbering sense of journalis, all it takes is a breath of life from our side, and the media resorts to its old canard of how we have to compromise, etc. No matter what substantive policies we are ever able to enact, they pale in importance to re-establishing the fair, level playing field that is essential to democracy. Start by bringing back the Fairness Doctrine, reestablishing Net Neutrality, investigate why 90% of our news comes from 6-7 corporations, and find some way to marginalize Faux news.
