Part of the game will always be about taking issues off the table. Any leader who has been subjected to the Republican machine for 15 years and counting will have high negatives and become an easy campaign target. Conor Lamb probably doesn’t win if he backs Pelosi. After that, what were others in subsequent tight elections supposed to do, fall on their swords for her?
