(37,648 posts)Republicans held the Senate and the House, the White House, control of the DOJ, and had replaced Democrats with Republicans in appointed various positions.
I remember one Democratic politician...I forget who...who said to give him a chance. But I do recall one. I don't recall any others. One person is not representative of an entire political party. (Update: I found who it was. It was Diane Feinstein. She said he could become a good President, if he changes. That's pretty naive, IMO.)
I do think that saying the end of Trump is nigh is overly optimistic. We've all heard that before. The fact remains that almost half the country supports him, he will not quit, he is mentally unbalanced, and he puts the fear of Hell into Republican politicians across the country.
We'll know more once Mueller's report comes in, if there is evidence he conspired with Russia. That is the only thing that I think will cause the Republicans in Congress to give thought to removing him. His supporters in the public, though, will not believe any "evidence," and will continue to support him. They are now officially a cult, IMO. Like David Karesh's supporters, they will go down in flames before they'll leave him.
