Trump trusts nobody, even his family. He sure as hell doesn't trust Pence to pardon him once he has resigned and is powerless and at his mercy. He knows Pence is a smarmy opportunist. And as much as Pence kisses his ass now while he's the boss, he knows Pence will do what is best for Pence. A pardon of Trump may not be best for Pence.

Trump just does what he needs to do to get through the next day, or the immediate crisis. Resigning is not how to do that. "Fighting back" is (in his mind, it seems).

People around him might be talking about resigning, but a) he sure as hell isn't going to take that advice, and b) that's not even very useful advice because it doesn't solve the underlying problem -- that this truly is a criminal and counterintelligence investigation not merely a political witch-hunt. If it was just political, resigning and leaving the political sphere would make it peter out and die eventually (a la Benghazi and ButterEmails), but that's not what this is, or what would happen here.
