(4,035 posts)I would like to see the case settled in court. However, as long as Sweden will not guarantee that they won't extradite him, that cannot happen. No one who committed sexual assault/rape (depending on the legal definitions) should face punishment for anything other than their crime(s), just as no criminal should face rape in addition to their punishment (US jails, I'm looking at you.) As it is, we don't know whether Assange is guilty of the charges against him, because it is not right to risk having him face rendition/torture/gitmo/what have you in order to find out. It's a travesty of the Swedish judicial system that they deny the accusers their day in court just because the Swedish government is too obedient of the US. Assange is right to refuse to go to Sweden, but I hope that one day this will be resolved properly.
