(43,308 posts)It's exactly what the blue wave of voters did this past year.
Sticking to your OP, that's what I think America is coming to grips with, and that's how I trust it will survive.
A couple of other items. First, McConnell is in legal jeopardy with Mueller, and a few of his quislings are getting a conscience over medicare prescription drug prices, so it's not time to worry about the Senate yet.
Second, I want a modernizing of the Constitution, too, but the way things work these days, our current problems not only NOT get addressed at an Article V convention, but "we" will end up with a constitution like Pinochet's, created by Kochists and the Mont Pelerin Society, who believe that democracy has failed, untethered capitalism is the answer. So they will establish a perfectly legal "constitutional" system of minority rule. Something they've been calling "revolution."
A good look at who would runs an Article V constitutional convention will tell you that, until our three branches of government are more representative, you will get even more darkness. Less open source anything. More modernity for the rich, less modernity for the rest of us. Once any current crop of reps hit the convention, all bets are off for The People.
Let's wait until after 2020 for talks on major constitution changes. I'll go for the ERA re-ratification before that, though. That there involves over half the country.
