2. Democrats seem to be on the popular side of a lot of issues

Whether it's climate change, women's health, tax fairness, firearm regulation, or any number of other issues, Democrats seem to be on the popular side of all of them. But for some reason, the media keep harping on the voters that Democrats will never win over whose votes Democrats will "lose" if they don't abandon their principles.

Harley Rouda runs a campaign that stubbornly cleaves to that popular position and dislodges a longstanding piece of congressional deadwood. None of the Very Serious People in the media can quite figure out how it happened.
