DU was founded on an explicitly anti-GWB position, that the 2000 Presidential Election was stolen, and has for years stood against Republicans and their vicious policies.
You're right there's no love for George W. Bush here. His entire administration was horrific. His crimes and abuses seem quaint now, looking back at recent history through the lens of the Trump administration. But recent horrors do not erase older ones. GWB was a terrible president whose incompetence and policies caused untold suffering and death. Katrina, Iraq, Afghanistan, 9/11. Those are just the big ticket items. His misdeeds are legion.

He is a flawed but very real human being, and most of us could relate to his grief.

It's called empathy, and decent people have it. Tragically, Republicans are empathy-free.
