if for no other reason that to prevent states like NY from opening Pandora's Box by moving to indict a sitting president.

The law is unclear on if this is possible and legal. If NY does move forward and:

- gets slapped down by the Supreme Court OR
- is successful

each of these will have far reaching implications to not only the current administration but future one's as well.

Imagine down the road, a solid red state makes a move to disrupt the a solidly blue administration with pestering state indictments.

Additionally, a slapped down state attorney general ould also give Congress carte blanche to act (or more likely not act) for partisan reasons against an administration deserving of impeachment.

BTW, please do not think for a moment that the blue side is any less partisan than the red side...many, if not most, politicians are partisan and will be loathe to move against their own party even if warranted.
