49. the idea that he's on speed came up a couple of times during the campaign

There's at least one story from ten or twenty years ago of him getting Doctor Feelgood prescriptions for speed, and it was noted in several places that the behavior profile matches that of someone on speed. So this may be unsubstantiated, but it's also quite plausible.
