We have our moments (it took my meeting 8 years to agree to take my same-gender marriage under its care, but that was a quarter of a century ago - it took our marriage under its care in 1994). We're not perfect - but we try. At the moment, the branch I belong to is engaged in an institutional assessment on racism on systemic racism (with itself).
But this inclusion/exclusion comment hit the nail on the head for why I'm not able to get into the holiday spirit this year - the feeling of exclusion from large parts of the entity I work for, for the first time in two decades (I was a student there, kept in touch through the years, and now work there).

Get a small xmass tree. A real one. They come with a stand. Buy some tiny little lights. Decorate it
